Operation FTM

A combination of the games Monopoly and Operation meant to illustrate how hard it is for trans people to afford gender affirming care. The game works like this: You are a young ftm (female to male) trans man who has just reached adulthood. As you move around the board, you work jobs, earn money, and lose mental health points if you get misgendered. Once you have enough money to afford each of the three surgeries listed on the board, you must perform the operations. This includes injecting the body with hormones, removing the breasts, removing the uterus and constructing a phallus.
Created using found materials (from finger condoms to dried roses), foam, plywood, a laser cutter, a CNC router, and designed on Adobe Illustrator.
"Passenger"

After surviving a near-death experience, an intense car crash last year, I have found that there is no way to fully move on from or avoid the mental health impacts of that event. That led me to create a project about car crashes, as a specific lens through which to look at trauma. Most of this collection focuses on how I now perceive cars, phones, hospitals, or the parts of cars associated with collisions. My relationships to these objects have changed, so I’ve used them as materials or inspiration for the works. The works include: "Pegasus," "Wear Your," "Still in Shock," "Joie de Vivre," "View from the Driver’s Seat," "Unintended Consequences," and "Nervous Breakdown."
